As a mom of 3 boys, I’ve realized by watching them over the years that there are basic “stuff” boys inherently want to do. Being a mom automatically sets me apart from the “boy stuff”. I love the relationship my husband has with my boys, but I quickly realized that if I didn’t become an active participant in their lives, and learn how to do the “stuff” they like, then my relationship with them would never be as close as I wanted it to be.
This realization has only grown as my oldest two have gotten bigger, and their interests have shifted even more into the manhood territory. So, I started looking online for quick and easy tutorials on everything from how to play catch and throw a football, to basic tricks on video games and understanding the slang they’ve begun to use.
I was shocked at how hard it was to find this information, especially from a Mom’s perspective, and I thought, there’s no way I’m the only boy mom out there asking these same questions. There’s no way I’m the only mom wanting to stay active and engaged in their son’s lives. So, I’ve decided to pull together the information I’ve found and put it all into one place. Hence the title – How To Be A Boy Mom – quick and simple tutorials on all things boy.
You can expect to find information on sports, video games, behavior/parenting and more. I hope this blog grows as my knowledge and boy’s needs do. And I hope it helps at least one Mom out there looking for ways to remain an active participant in her boy’s lives and not relegated to a spectator.
Good luck Moms. We’ve been given a beautiful, messy and complicated puzzle to figure out, but we can do it together and our boys will be all the better for it.
